Our company
As we have a passion for vessels and mythology/history, we named our company after one of the Gods of the sea: NJORD.
NJORD was the patron of sailors and fishermen of the Vikings. Those honouring NJORD could count on a safe "sea adventure". NJORD was said to be friendly with a calm character, vigorous and he was believed to have the ability to calm waters and quell fires.
The worship of Njord was so firmly rooted that he was continued to be invoked by seafarers around the North Sea well after the Viking Age had passed.

Our team
We are a team of experienced and dedicated surveyors / case handlers with a nautical background and/or extensive industry experience offering independent surveys, assistance and consultancy.
Additionally, we can rely on our network of experienced professionals, including a Master.
Kenneth Braem - senior marine surveyor / technical case handler
Owner
Kenneth Braem founded Njord Surveys BV. He graduated from the Maritime Academy at Antwerp as Master in Nautical Sciences.
He is a seasoned expert with more than 20 years of experience in the industry and combines expertise with a hands-on approach.
He has worked for more than 15 years for a renowned Antwerp P&I Correspondent where he gained experience as P&I surveyor / Correspondent / technical case handler.
Furthermore, he has worked for an important international survey company where he has mainly carried out CMR, terminal and cargo interest related surveys.
He is proficient in many kinds of surveys, but developed a special interest and expertise in tankers / shore tanks / tank containers / liquid bulk cargo, bunker claims, (environmental) pollution claims, steel products (coils, plates, wire rods,...) and dry bulk cargo.
Stephan Pauwels - senior marine surveyor

Stephan is a marine surveyor with 20 years of experience in various types of cargo / marine surveys.
Throughout his career, he developed a comprehensive understanding of maritime operations allowing him to provide thorough surveys and inspections.
He is a dedicated surveyor and is specialized in load and stow, on/off-hire surveys, bunker surveys and surveys of containers and general cargo (amongst others steel cargo).
